ENVS Undergrad to intern with NASA this summer
ENVS undergraduate student Alexandria Russell has been awarded a prestigious internship with NASA in Pasadena, California for the summer 2010. Alexandria will be working on a hurricane modeling project within the Radar Science Group at the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab. Her duties will include analyzing some of the data that describe the physics and dynamics underlying hurricanes. The data statistics that she will compile will be used to model tropical cyclones. This will help NASA determine the primary driving forces behind hurricanes and how to predict when they will occur.
«I am very excited about this opportunity,» says Alexandria. «Through this internship, I will learn more about the environmental sciences and my work will benefit NASA’s research efforts. I hope to work for NASA in the future doing research on environmental science or planetary geology.»
