Job as a grandparent: I'm taking my two grandsons (currently 5 & 8) out into the forests and meadows as often as possible: skipping rocks on water surfaces, chasing minnows, poking crayfish, dragonfly field trips, bird watching, hiking, connecting with the land.

Most recent work:
Assistant Attorney General, Attorney General Of Washington

Since June 2006, I have represented the Washington Department of Ecology on oil spill-related issues, and Clean Water Act issues.  This position requires me to provide client advice to the agency, and represent them before administrative tribunals, state courts, or federal courts.  One of the biggest cases I've worked on since 2004, United States v. Washington, involves the Tribal treaty fishing rights of 21 Western Washington tribes.  It is called the "culverts case," because it involves the pipes beneath roadways which when not properly built or maintained, may impede the passage of anadromous fish.  The culverts case is directly related to the original Boldt case litigated in the early 1970s.
