October 8, 2010, Gerlinger Lounge
Keynote, Small group discussions, Food 3-5 p.m.

The Environmental Studies Program will welcome in the new year with an afternoon of small group discussions, food, mingling, and a special address by Maxine Burkett. This annual convocation is an opportunity for all ENVS/ESCI undergraduates, graduates, faculty and staff to meet the Environmental Studies Program community and celebrate our upcoming year by sharing food and ideas.

Maxine Burkett is the 2010 Wayne Morse Chair of Law and Politics. Her work focuses on climate justice and the disparate impact of climate change on poor and of-color communities. In her keynote presentation for the Environmental Studies Program convocation, Burkett will address the issue of climate reparations and imagine how they might come about through international cooperation.
