Allen Carlson, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada), is an authority in aesthetics and has pioneered the field of environmental aesthetics. In addition to editing four volumes and publishing numerous articles in leading journals, he is the author of Aesthetics and the Environment: The Appreciation of Nature, Art and Architecture (Routledge, 2000).
